At BMC, the Field Superintendent provides excellent guidance to their team, service to customers, and support to contracting agents. This dedicated team member prepares estimates, sells our top-notch products, and coordinates the installation of products such as insulation, roofing, siding, doors, windows and other materials.
Major Responsibilities:
Estimate, provide quotes and sell building materials to builders and homeowners.
Provide a labor bid to coordinate with installed services.
Schedule various aspects of installation and inspection processes with required work crews or subcontractors.
Review all building plans or blue prints to determine questions or issues.
Educate, demonstrate product usage, and assist customer with product selections.
Prepare and submit periodic reports detailing activities, sales, volumes and expenses. Monitor costs.
Maintain inventory on all materials needed and order materials as needed.
Supervise personnel and ensure adherence to department/ company policies and procedures.
Prepare inspection "Punch List" for work crew or subcontractor.
Coordinate all warranty work insuring that workmanship is quality and meets minimum expected standard.
Perform personnel management duties including training, hiring, terminating, initiating disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, monitoring and making departmental wage recommendations.
Perform other related duties as necessary.
Required Skills
Minimum education required: High School Diploma
Special skills required: Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Broad knowledge of all facets of residential construction. Previous experience working with installation crews. Ability to interpret contracts and legal agreements. Excellent communication, interpersonal customer relations skills. Ability to work with and motivate personnel.
Special knowledge required: Detailed knowledge of building materials, applications, specifications and costs. Knowledge of building code and inspection processes.
Other: Computer literate. Ability to work in a variety of environments and climates. Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and 100 lbs occasionally.
Required Experience
Minimum experience required: 7 years of experience working in general construction and 5 years supervising work groups and managing subcontractors.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
